CLASSES WE OFFER
BALLET
Preschool Dance: This class will help younger dancers (ages 3-4 years old) learn how their bodies move through basic ballet technique and vocabulary. This fun but structured setting will include stretching, simple body positions, locomotor movement, and free dancing all to help improve coordination and musicality. These classes will help prepare dancers for Beginning Ballet classes. All dancers must be potty trained.
Beginning Ballet: Beginning Ballet is designed to help dancers begin to understand and develop body awareness and proper alignment. Ballet technique will be taught with exercises at the ballet barre, center work and traveling across the floor. Dancers will learn basic ballet terminology and history.
Ballet I/II: Ballet I & II will continue to build on the ballet vocabulary that was learned in beginning ballet. Ballet technique will be taught with exercises at the ballet barre, center work, and traveling across the floor. Dancers will add further ballet vocabulary, body positions, and complex combinations to their repertoire.
Ballet III/IV: Ballet III/IV students will learn and review ballet fundamentals, musicality, and performance quality. The class will typically consist of a ballet barre and various center work. ***Teacher approval is required to enroll in this class. Ballet II or its equivalent is a prerequisite.***
Adult Ballet: Students will delve into the fundamentals of ballet technique and learn introductory musicality and performance quality techniques. The class will typically consist of a ballet barre, conditioning exercises, and center work. ***No previous ballet experience is required to enroll for this class.***
POINTE
Beg/Int Pointe: Beg/Int Pointe students will learn/review the fundamentals of pointe technique. The class will typically be segmented into a brief ballet barre, followed by leg/ankle/foot strengthening exercises, and some en pointe center work.
Teacher approval is required to begin pointe training for the first time. Previous ballet experience is a must; previous pointe experience is not required.
Adv Pointe: Adv Pointe students will fine-tune their pointe technique, musicality, and performance quality, while conditioning their bodies for optimal pointe work. The class will typically be segmented into an en pointe barre, conditioning exercises, and center work.
Teacher approval and technical proficiency are required to enroll in this Adv Pointe class. Int Pointe or its equivalent is a prerequisite for this class. ill delve into the fundamentals of ballet technique and learn introductory musicality and performance quality techniques. JAZZ
Jazz I & II: This class is for students with little to no experience in jazz dance. Students will learn the fundamentals of jazz dance, focusing on strength, flexibility, body isolations and jazz technique. Jazz dance is all about personality. It is a high energy form of expression in which dancers use turns, leaps, and fancy footwork. Dancers will learn musicality and rhythm through traditional jazz exercises and extended combinations.
Jazz III & IV: Jazz is a fundamental element of dance. Styles like lyrical, contemporary and musical theater use some of the same building blocks as jazz. This class includes elements of ballet, modern, and jazz technique. Students will focus on flexibility, strength, conditioning, and proper technique through progressions of turns, leaps, and combinations.
MODERN
Beginning Modern: This class is for students with little to no modern experience (<2 years). Modern class will incorporate many of the foundations of modern dance technique, including suspension and release, fall and recovery, the use of momentum, and connection breath with movement. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work and partnering, and various methods of improvisation.
Int/Adv Modern: This class is for students with experience in and familiarity with modern technique (>2 years). Modern class will incorporate many of the foundations of modern dance technique, including suspension and release, fall and recovery, the use of momentum, and connection breath with movement. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work and partnering, and various methods of improvisation.
LYRICAL
Lyrical: Lyrical is an advanced class focusing on controlled and fluid movement. Lyrical is poetic dance full of expression. It combines movements from ballet, jazz, and contemporary. In class we concentrate on the expression of our movement through our bodies with a focus on technique.
Open Combo: Open combo is a class where we just dance! We learn a longer combination, usually one minute-two minutes long. The style changes from week to week from jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and jazz funk. This class focuses on growing well rounded dancers with good memories. The flow of class is similar to a convention style class.
TAP
Beginning Tap: For dancers ages 5 and up, this is an introductory class to the world of rhythm and expression through your feet! This class will cover basic tap vocabulary, techniques, and steps to build up the new tapper's knowledge of tap and prepare them for more advanced classes.
Tap II & III: For dancers who know the basics or are beginners above the 3rd grade level and are ready to learn, explore, and express through rhythm in tap dance! This class will challenge the older dancer to build up on what they have learned and perfect technique to prepare them for advanced tap technique classes.
BALLET FOLKLORICO
Ballet Folklorico I: Dancers will learn the beautiful art form of Mexican folkloric dance. Dance technique will be based on the various regions in Mexico and will include fundamental footwork, skirt work, and stage presence. Dancers will also learn about the origins, history, and costume of each regional dance. This is an introductory class for students ages 5 and up who want to learn this beautiful art form..
